This role is responsible for the continuous improvement of the department and provides leadership for the activities and personnel of the assigned group in a manner that obtains a safe, efficient, productive, and economical operation. This includes increasing the ratio of value to non-value and eliminating waste in the overall department for a defined product family and for ensuring that the product meets or exceeds customer requirements. This position achieves results through influence rather than direct control. The leader in this role must develop support for lean and quality initiatives by working through management at the site, Business Unit, and Functional levels. This position also requires an ability to balance standardization (corporate, group, site) with the need for tools and processes that are embraced by Albany.

Qualifications/Characteristics
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Industrial Management or related field, or current pursuit of the degree
Knowledge:
5 years of relevant manufacturing experience.
Good understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
ERP systems/fundamentals knowledge and understanding
A working knowledge of OSHA requirements in a manufacturing environment.
Skills:
Proficient in the use of Microsoft software (MSWord, PowerPoint, Excel) to enable the creation of work instruction and other production documentation.
Understand and interpret engineering drawings, with a basic understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
Problem solving skills.
Extensive knowledge of lean tools such as 5S, Visual Factory, value stream mapping.
