The position is within the MDS-AD-SFC Mass Spectrometry and Characterization (MSC) group, offering an opportunity to lead key activities essential for the progression of small and large molecule assets. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Characterizing and identifying particulates using vibrational spectroscopy and SEM-EDX
  • Characterizing sub-visible and visible particulates through flow-imaging and Light Scattering (LS) techniques.

  • Providing structural characterization of various APIs and protein therapeutics

  • Developing and implementing methods for structural characterization of small and large molecule co-formulations and Long-Acting Injectables (LAIs

  • Developing and implementing methods for sizing particulates in co-formulations and LAIs.

  • Developing and implementing methods for the analysis and characterization of aggregate and particle formation in protein therapeutics

  • Providing high-quality data and assisting in drafting sections for characterization reports and regulatory submissions

  • Representing the line function in project teams and/or sub-teams

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • BS or MS degree in Protein Biochemistry, Biophysics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related fields is required.
  • 7+ years of experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry is required with an MS degree. PhD degree, a minimum of 2 or more years of experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Proficiency in particulate characterization and identification using Raman, IR and SEM-EDX.
  • Experience in protein HOS characterization using FTIR, CD, VCD, Fluorescence Spectroscopy, ITC, and DSC.
  • Protein aggregate and particulate characterization using DLS, SEC-MALS, AUC, AF4, FlowCam, MFI, and HIAC.
  • Proficiency in API characterization using vibrational spectroscopy (IR, Raman, and VCD).
  • Highly effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player in a matrix environment. A full understanding of laboratory requirements, ICH guidelines, USP requirements, and FDA guidance is essential.
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
